Glad you’re here!

My name is Kim Jay and I’m a Victoria BC photographer.
My happy place includes al pastor tacos, sandy beaches, and grooving on the dance floor.
I like to start my days slow - coffee imperative -
and end them with a good movie or a pretty sunset.
I find inspiration from travelling abroad - by road or by cinema. I believe curating an exceptional playlist is key to a good time.
I’m a storyteller, and photography is my medium.

My approach to photographing your love.

Weddings are intimate.
It’s important to have a photographer whose style you adore, and who you feel comfortable with.
If you want the long version - this is it. 👇🏼

  • I love working with couples who are unapologetically themselves and design their wedding day on their own terms. I connect the most with couples breaking the mold and doing things their way. I LOVE capturing emotion!
Shake things up! Whether that’s a costume party reception, or saying “I do” on a mountain top, adding splashes of what you love ensure’s the celebration is catered to who you are as a couple. Maybe that’s a candy dessert bar or a day two pool party with your friends, make it yours!!

  • On the wedding day, I take a documentary approach with a cinematic eye. I capture you, your favourite people, and the special place you’ve chosen to celebrate your love. I am on the hunt for the play of light and shadow and I love capturing real emotion and movement. I’m not a fly on the wall. I’m more like a friend with a camera - documenting how it felt. Honest emotions - the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the tears when you make your promises to each other, the belly laughs shared with friends - that’s the real story! The unposed, in-between moments, the unscripted ones - that’s where the magic is!

  • I’ve captured over 100 weddings, so I know a thing or two about pulling off an amazing celebration and party. I’m here to guide you with anything photography-related in the months leading up to your day. If you have questions about the best lighting to seek out, or how much time you need to put aside for portraits - I’m just an email away. We can work together to create a fleshed-out photography timeline, so I can capture the day as it unfolds. This is why creating a relationship of trust and friendship with my clients is important to me.

That trust gives me a backstage pass to capture your authentic story.

  • Photos are a huge investment because they become your memories. Your photos are meant to be seen! How often do you look back at images stored on old harddrive - my guess is not very often!? But when it’s a real album or a stack of printed photos we can touch the images and actually spend time with them. We can oooh and ahhh, and relive those precious memories. Investing in physical products is investing in a personal, immersive experience.

After all, once the big day is over, all you have is memories.

  • Here’s the truth: weddings are a lot of work. I truly love my job, but shooting weddings every weekend would leave me burnt out and begging for a year-long vacation.  The editing process is quite extensive; each wedding can take up to a full week of editing alone.

I limit my wedding clients to 15 per year, so I can ensure I can offer my clients my best work. Ultimately, connecting and having clients who trust me and my process is most important.

  • I want you to remember your heart thumping in anticipation as you walked down the aisle, the smile that broke out on your face when you saw your partner, the safety you felt holding each other's hands and promising forever.

Chances are, you’ll forget the little details, but me and my trusty camera will work to capture the fleeting moments.

Do we sound like a good fit? Let’s chat!
