2016 In Review
See ya later 2016, it's been a slice! This past year whizzed by so fast, I almost forgot to stop and smell the roses. I did 68 different photoshoots and delivered 17,460 images to awesome clients, many of whom I now call my friends.
It was my second season photographing weddings and I can't express enough thanks to the couples who trusted me with documenting their day. I got to create photos of people in love, I teared up at every ceremony, and hit the dance floor at every reception. Thank you for making this my job!
In 2016 I attended the Canada Photo Convention, Possible Workshop and ARC. Each conference offered me something - whether it be business tips, or a new community of fellow photographers to support me, I owe a lot to these educational experiences. Never stop learning, folks!
Camping was king this summer. I went to a few music festivals and enjoyed time spent on the road in our trusty ol' VW van, Roxy. Exploring and travel keeps me inspired, always.
Somewhere between the nights of music and dancing and the passion filled days of shooting weddings, I forgot to listen to my body and what it needed. In the fall I experienced burn out and a daunting mountain of editing to complete. It was crappy. That was my body's way of telling me to slow down. This year, I promise to listen to those signs and respect my limits.
No woman is an island, and I have so many people to thank for this past year. To my family, thanks for always being just a phone call away, even though I'm not geographically close. I look forward to seeing you more in 2017.
To my community of friends, my second family, you lift me up when I need it and you always provide a soft place to land. Thank you.
To my partner Craig, you are my rock and my best friend. Thank you for being by my side no matter what. I look forward to what this new year has in store for all of us.
Enjoy this compilation of my favourite images from 2016.
